Operation Breakwater, also called Operation Break the Wave, was an operation conducted by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). Triggered by terrorism within Israel, the main purpose was to reduce crime and violence in the West Bank. The IDF conducted several raids and participated in some fire exchanges, in which they were victorious. Around 149 Arabs died during the operation, and 2,000 were arrested. In the end of the operation, crime was heavily reduced and "hundreds of lives were saved".
