Omar Mohammed Shegewi, was a distinguished U.S. educated Libyan petroleum geologist. Omar is best known for his work on the Onshore & Offshore Basins of Northeast Libya and The Paleozoic Sandstones of the Rub Al Khali Basin. Shegewi's seven years of collective efforts and work on the northeastern basins of Libya provided a comprehensive database of more than 3,000 kilometres (1,900 mi) of seismic lines, gravity and magnetic data, well logs, and surface geology data.
