Old-age and survivors insurance- OASI constitutes one of the main social security schemes in Switzerland. The federal law on OASI was passed on December 20, 1946, and approved by popular vote on July 6, 1947, by almost 80% of the votes. It was subsequently harmonized and coordinated with the federal law on disability insurance adopted in 1959.
