text: North Charleroi is a borough in Washington County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,302 at the 2020 census. The settlement is also known as "Lock 4". Previously Lock and Dam #4 was located on this side of the Monongahela River, and the place had this name. Lock and Dam #4 was later relocated further upstream on the other side of the "Charleroi Monessen Bridge". The name was changed but most residents still refer to the town as "Lock 4".
