Normanby by Spital is a village and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 318, increasing to 412 at the 2011 census. It is approximately 10 miles (16 km) north from Lincoln, and just off the A15. The village is part of the Owmby Group of parishes. The name Normanby is from the Old English and Old Scandinavian Northman+by, or "Northman village". In the 1086 Domesday Book, the village is given as Normanebi. Normanby
