Nobuyuki Otsu graduated from the Department of Mathematical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Tokyo in 1969. He finished the master’s course in mathematics at the Department of Mathematical Engineering and Information Physics of the University of Tokyo in 1971. Obtained Doctor of Engineering from University of Tokyo in 1981. He joined the Electrotechnical Laboratory (ETL) in 1971. He has been engaged in the research of pattern recognition theory and its application.
