text: Nicholas Niciphor is an American screenwriter and film director. His best known credit is the film Deathsport (1978) which he wrote and directed, although he left the production during filming. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Niciphor was born in New York, to a Norwegian woman who gave him up for adoption. He grew up in Europe. Niciphor studied filmmaking at USC and made several short films. He wrote Our Winning Season for Joe Roth at AIP and Roth recommended Niciphor to Roger Corman. This
