text: Steam traction was the predominant form of motive power used by the Deutsche Reichsbahn on its narrow-gauge railways. For certain duties diesel locomotives were also used, albeit these were usually second-hand or rebuilt engines. Locomotives with a gauge of 750 mm (2 ft 5+1⁄2 in) were classified as Kö 6001ff. and 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in) locomotives as Kö 6501ff..
