text: Murton is a small village and a civil parish in the unitary authority of the City of York in North Yorkshire, England that is located on the outskirts of York. To the west there is the A64 and the village of Osbaldwick, to the south the A166 road to Bridlington, to the north the village of Stockton-on-the-Forest, and to the east the villages of Holtby and Warthill. According to the 2001 census the parish had a population of 423, increasing to 668 in the 2011 Census. The village was historically
