Moses Harris was an officer in the United States Army who fought for the Union during the American Civil War and was awarded the Medal of Honor. Harris was born on October 8, 1837, in Andover, New Hampshire. He enlisted in the army in 1857, and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in May 1864. While a First Lieutenant in the 1st U.S. Cavalry, on August 28, 1864, at Smithfield, Virginia, Harris was faced with an attack by a superior force.
