Michael Zissis Vassiliadis is President of the Mining, Chemical and Energy Workers' Union in Germany and President of the European Confederation of Industrial Trade Unions IndustriAll Europe. Born in Essen, Vassiliadis began working in 1980, as a laboratory technician for Bayer. He joined the Chemical, Paper and Ceramic Union, and in 1986 began working full-time for the union, as secretary of its Leverkusen office.
