Laurence Michael Dillon was a British doctor, author, Buddhist monk and the first known transgender man to undergo a phalloplasty. Born in Ladbroke Gardens, Kensington, he and his elder brother moved to Folkestone as children following the death of their mother from sepsis. They were subsequently looked after by their two aunts.
