Martha Deacon was named to the Senate of Canada, representing the province of Ontario, by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on February 15, 2018. Prior to her appointment she was an educator and had had a long history of involvement with amateur sport. She served as Canada’s chef de mission for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in India, and is also a director of the Canadian Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Canada.
