Mangal Chotta Singh was a pioneer in and promoter of Indian dance and music in Singapore. Initially a medical practicioner, he founded the Ramakrishna Mission Orchestra, the first Indian orchestra in Southeast Asia, in 1939. In 1986, he was posthumously awarded the Kala Ratna.
