Manchester was launched in 1835 at Portland, New Brunswick, and was registered at St John, New Brunswick. She first appeared in Lloyd's Register (LR) in 1837. She changed her registration to Liverpool, and foundered in 1839 while sailing from Bombay to Liverpool. Manchester, Frederick Wilson, master, left Bombay on 16 July 1839, with a cargo of cotton, and bound for Liverpool. On 29 July she developed a leak.
