text: Latin for All Occasions is a 1990 book by Henry Beard, and Latin for Even More Occasions is a 1991 sequel. Both contain translations of modern English phrases into mostly literal Latin equivalents. Beard is known as a humorist but studied Latin for eight years at Harvard. He wrote the Latin himself, but had it checked and polished by scholars Mark Sugars and Winifred Lewellen. The idea for the books was from John Boswell.
