text: Charles-Léon Metz was a Luxembourgish politician and industrialist. He was a member of the Chamber of Deputies for forty-three years (1875–1918), and served as Mayor of Esch-sur-Alzette from 1906 to 1909. The son of Auguste Metz and Petronille Laeis, he was a member of the prominent Metz family, and he entered the family business of metallurgy. He was first elected to the communal council of Esch-sur-Alzette in 1873, and served for four years before becoming an échevin on 16 January 1877. He was
