The Most Reverend Kyrill was the archbishop of the Orthodox Church in America's Diocese of Western Pennsylvania and Bulgarian Diocese. In 1940 he graduated from the Saint John of Rila Theological Seminary in Sofia. On January 19, 1941, he was tonsured to monastic orders and given the name Kyrill. The following day, he was ordained to the diaconate. In April 1943, he was ordained to the priesthood.
