text: The Kawaguchi Detachment was an Imperial Japanese Army brigade that existed during World War II. Under the command of Major General Kiyotake Kawaguchi, they fought in the Battle of Borneo and a part of the Guadalcanal Campaign. After October 1942, they had a different commander. Starting in December 1941, the Japanese invaded British Borneo, in what would become the Battle of Borneo. They was successful in the ensuing months, capturing the cities of Miri and Kuching.
