Kaiju is a Japanese term that is commonly associated with media involving giant monsters. The kaiju film genre is credited to tokusatsu director Eiji Tsuburaya and filmmaker IshirÅ Honda, who popularized it by creating the Godzilla franchise and its spin-offs.
