text: Michael Joseph Sobran Jr., also known as M. J. Sobran, was an American paleoconservative journalist and syndicated columnist. He wrote for the National Review magazine from 1972 to 1993. In his columns, Sobran was moralistic, opposed to big government, and an isolationist critic of U.S. foreign policy.
