Joseph Montfort was an American planter and merchant. A prominent member of the planter class in the Province of North Carolina, he was an active member of the Provincial Grand Lodge of North Carolina and was deputized by Henry Somerset, 5th Duke of Beaufort to serve as the Grand Master of and for America in 1771.
