John Riddell Bromhead Walker was a soldier and long-serving English officer of arms at the College of Arms in London. Following graduation from Royal Military College, Sandhurst, he was commissioned a second lieutenant on 2 February 1933. He was appointed to the British Indian Army and the 1st battalion 11th Sikh Regiment on 4 March 1934. He was promoted to Lieutenant on 2 May 1935. As an Acting Major with the 11th Sikh Regiment, he was awarded the Military Cross in the London Gazette 18 May 194
