text: John Rognes is a Norwegian mathematician. He is a professor at the Department of Mathematics at the University of Oslo. Rognes mathematical talent was visible from a young age; in 1984 he won a bronze medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad in Prague. As a 19-year-old, he received his master's degree.
