text: Sir John Rogers was an English Member of Parliament. He was the second son of and heir of Sir John Rogers of Bryanston, Dorset and his wife Elizabeth, daughter of Sir William Courtenay of Powderham. He succeeded his father in 1535 and was knighted in 1540. He served as a Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Dorset from 1528 until 1565 and was appointed High Sheriff of Somerset and Dorset for 1552–53. He saw military service during a northern uprising in 1536 and again in 1544, when he was at the Sieg
