John L. Wimbush was an English landscape and portrait painter. Born in London, England, Wimbush first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1889 and went on to mount several other exhibitions there over the years. The spelling Wimbush is not found in his birth record. It is believed that letter 'L' did not stand for anything. It was just an initial.
