John Houston Squires was an American college football coach, agriculturist, chemical engineer, and financier. He served as the head football coach at New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts—now known as New Mexico State University—for one season, in 1909, compiling a record of 1–3–1. Squires was born on January 19, 1882, in Morven, North Carolina, and moved with this mother to Lenoir, North Carolina in 1894.
