John Goddard was a British Whig politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1727 to 1736. Goddard was the fourth son of Thomas Goddard, of Nun's Court, Coleman St., London, director of Bank of England from 1694 to 1700, and his wife Elizabeth Shallcross, daughter of Humphrey Shallcross of Digswell, Hertfordshire. He became a merchant trading with Portugal. He married Anne Simondi, widow of a, Swedish consul at Lisbon and sister of Joseph Gulston Goddard, was returned as a Whig Member of Parl
