John Glover Castles was a United States Army major general and former Adjutant General of Virginia. Born in East Orange, New Jersey, Castles graduated from the Valley Forge Military Academy in 1943. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in May 1943 and was commissioned in 1944 after completing Infantry Officer Candidate School. Castles served in combat with the 345th Infantry, 87th Infantry Division, 3rd Army in Europe during World War II. After being discharged from active duty on April 15, 1946, Castle
