John Butler was an Irish politician, farmer and trade union official. He was first elected to Dáil Éireann at the 1922 general election for the Waterford–Tipperary East constituency as a Labour Party Teachta Dála (TD). He was re-elected for the Waterford constituency at the 1923 general election. He lost his seat at the June 1927 general election. He stood for the Dáil again at several subsequent general elections but was not elected. In 1933 he joined Fine Gael on its formation and unsuccessful
