John Burton was a British conservationist and nature author. In 1963, Burton became assistant information officer at the Natural History Museum. He was chief executive of the World Land Trust for 30 years. He held that position until 2019. Burton was a regular columnist for the New Scientist and an Assistant Editor of Animals magazine.
