text: John Bingham was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1645 and 1659. He served in the Parliamentary army in the English Civil War. Bingham was the son of Richard Bingham, of Bingham's Melcombe, Dorset, and his wife Jane Hopton, daughter of Sir Arthur Hopton. He matriculated at Brasenose College, Oxford, on 9 December 1631, aged 18. He was a student of the Middle Temple in 1632.
