Jericho is a small settlement in the civil parish of Holme St. Cuthbert in Cumbria, United Kingdom. It is located 2 miles east of the village of Mawbray, and 21.5 miles south-west of the city of Carlisle. It was presumably named for the Biblical city of Jericho, today located in the Palestinian territories. The settlement appears in birth, marriage, and death registrations from as early as the mid-19th century, and so certainly existed by that time. It is also mentioned as the residence of the S
