text: Jean E. Lannes is a French mathematician, specializing in algebraic topology and homotopy theory. Lannes completed his secondary studies at the Lycée Louis-le-Grand in Paris and graduated in 1966 from the École Normale Supérieure. He received his doctorate in 1975 from the University of Paris-Saclay. Afterwards he was a professor there and at the Paris Diderot University.
