James Kerr Pollock was an American political scientist. He was born on May 25, 1898, in New Castle, Pennsylvania and attended the University of Michigan, where he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees, from 1916 to 1921. Between 1921 and 1925, Pollock completed a doctorate at Harvard University. Concurrently, Pollock taught at Geneva College and at Ohio State University. He began teaching at Michigan in 1925 as a lecturer, and was named full professor in 1934. Pollock was chair of the depar
