Jack Hirshleifer was an American economist and long-time professor at the University of California, Los Angeles. He received a B.S. in 1945 and a Ph.D. in 1950 from Harvard University. He worked at the RAND Corporation in Santa Monica from 1949 to 1955. He then taught at the University of Chicago from 1955 to 1960, and at UCLA until 2001.
