Inspector Frans J. Palmu, depicted as "a gruff detective of the Helsinki Police Department", is one of the most popular characters created by Finnish writer Mika Waltari. The character starred in three mystery novels, all of which were filmed. His first appearance was in the 1939 novel Who Murdered Mrs. Skrof?.
