The western terminus is at an intersection with Illinois Route 9 and SR 26 and the highway heads north then east passing through towns like Ambia, Boswell, and Oxford, before ending at U.S. Route 52, near Templeton. The road covers a distance of about 20.554 miles (33.078 km), passing through mostly rural areas in Benton and Warren counties.
