text: The Impartial Female Humane Society was an early 19th-century benevolent organization established to assist distressed women in Baltimore, Maryland. The society was formed in 1802 and incorporated in 1811. Its most noted president was Mary Pickersgill, the seamstress who made the Star Spangled Banner Flag, who served from 1828 to 1851.
