text: The Hugo Public Library built in 1936–37, on E. Jefferson St. in Hugo, Oklahoma, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. It was a Works Progress Administration project. The importance of the project, in its time, was expressed starkly in the 1988 National Register nomination: The historic building is a one-story, irregular building about 53 by 75 feet in plan, built of uncut and uncoursed native stone.
