Hubert Vansant Coryell was a teacher, author, and popular author of boys’ fiction. He was the third son of legendary dime novelist John R. Coryell. Like his three brothers, Hubert V. Coryell attended Harvard University; he graduated in 1911. He began working as a teacher fresh out of college, starting in a segregated school in St. Louis. He taught in a variety of schools before settling back in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He was an English teacher and later a school principal, while writing profes
