text: Six ships of the Royal Navy have borne the name HMS Windsor Castle, after Windsor Castle, an official residence of the British monarch: HMS Windsor Castle (1679) was a 90-gun second-rate ship of the line launched in 1678 and wrecked in 1693. HMS Windsor Castle was a 90-gun second rate previously named HMS Duchess.
