text: Eight ships of the Royal Navy have borne the name HMS Humber, after the Humber, an estuary in eastern England, whilst another was planned: HMS Humber (1690) was an 8-gun fireship built in 1690. Her fate is unknown. HMS Humber (1693) was an 80-gun second rate ship of the line launched in 1693. She was rebuilt in 1708 and 1726, and was renamed HMS Princess Amelia in 1727.
