Heinz Gottfried Nawratil was a German lawyer, legal author and human rights activist. After World War II Nawratil settled in Bavaria, West Germany, where he grew up in Miesbach. He studied law, earned a doctorate and worked as a civil law notary beginning in 1970. He was awarded the Förderpreis of the »Stiftung der Deutschen Gemeinden und Gemeindeverbände zur Förderung der Kommunalwissenschaften« in 1965. He is also known for his research on the expulsion of Germans after World War II, which has
