It is on the A158, 5 miles (8 km) east of Horncastle and 4 miles (6 km) north-west of Spilsby. In 2011 the parish had a population of 359. The place-name 'Hagworthingham' is attested in the Domesday Book of 1086, where it appears as "Haberdingham" and "Hacberding(e)ham" according to Ekwall, which states the name means 'the ham [village] of the Hagworth people'. According to Mills, Domesday assigns
