Haden Edward Knox is an American attorney and politician who served as the 49th Mayor of Charlotte, North Carolina from 1979 until 1983. A native of Davidson, North Carolina, Knox is an alumnus of North Carolina State University and of Wake Forest University law school. Then a Democrat, Knox served in the North Carolina Senate for two terms (1971–74). He chaired the successful gubernatorial campaign of Jim Hunt in 1976. After being elected and re-elected mayor of Charlotte, Knox ran unsuccessful
