Gustave Monette was a Progressive Conservative Party member of the Senate of Canada. He was born in Saint-Philippe-de-Laprairie, Quebec and became a barrister and solicitor. The son of Eugène Monette and Marie Roy, he was educated in Sainte-Thérèse de Blainville and at the Université de Montréal and practised law in Montreal. In 1914, he married Blanche Séguin. Monette and his cousin Philippe Monette were defence lawyers for Adélard Delorme, a Roman Catholic priest accused of murdering his stepb
