text: Grote Stirling was a Canadian politician. Born in Tunbridge Wells, United Kingdom, he was the son of Captain Charles Stirling (1831–1915), and officer in the Royal Navy of Scottish descent. He was a civil engineer and fruit grower. Stirling moved to Canada, and was elected to the House of Commons of Canada representing the British Columbia riding of Yale in a 1924 by-election.
