Grondona is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Alessandria in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 110 kilometres (68 mi) southeast of Turin and about 35 kilometres (22 mi) southeast of Alessandria. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 548 and an area of 25.7 square kilometres (9.9 sq mi). The municipality of Grondona contains the frazione (subdivision) Variana. Grondona borders the following municipalities: Arquata Scrivia, Borghetto di Borbera, Isola del Cantone, Roccaf
