text: Gosforth is an area of Newcastle upon Tyne, England, situated north of the City Centre. It constituted a separate urban district of Northumberland from 1895 until 1974 before officially merging with the city of Newcastle upon Tyne. In 2001, it had a population of 23,620. Gosforth borders Jesmond and the Town Moor to the south, High Heaton and Longbenton to the east, and Kenton to the west. There are four electoral wards on Newcastle City Council that include parts of Gosforth: Dene and South Gos
